30th. September 1924.
I have the honour to submit the following report:-
On 28th September I was on passage from Lintin Island to Kong
Mun.
At 1200 when two miles above the entrance of Kong Kau Creek in Sailam Channel, observed a launch, which on seeing the Ship hastily got under way and ran up a creek to Starbard. A second launch which must have been anchored in the creek was
seen to proceed also.

been anchored in

seen to preceed also.

At the entrance to the Creek there is a so called Military post. I hailed them to enquire what the launches were but could
not get a satisfactory answer,
After proceeding a short way up the creek I came in sight of
the launches and ordered them to atop.
From the nearest one armed men were seen to be leaping ashore
on the port bank via sempans whilst a further party landed
on the Starbard bank where she grounded.
These
opened fire on.
·
Owing to numbers of women and children on the bunds and houses
care had to be taken to first obtain a clear range.
The other launch had steamed on so I passed the deserted launah
and having cleared the village obtained a clear view of her.
I opened fire with my foremost 6pdr. firing seven rounds.
The launch disappeared behind a clump of trees and did not
apnear again so I returned and picked up the first launch
which turned out to be the British Launch rangly, belonging to
the Rafeek and Company.
The crew (less the two Pilots and one cook), were on board so
I placed my Coxswain and one hand onboard and told her to fol-
low me.
